Here are some tips, tricks and info about what you can expect at a Fictionally Yours event.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
You will have 3 hours to meet and chat with your favorite authors (early admission ticket holders get an extra hour). Please don’t worry about getting to everyone; you’ll have plenty of time! Fictionally Yours does not have ticketed lines. Our ratio is approximately 10 readers to each author to keep the vibes intimate.
WHAT TIME CAN I ENTER?
We open the doors promptly at early admission and general admission times.
IS THERE AN AUTHOR SEATING CHART?
You don’t need one! Fictionally Yours is small and intimate. You’ll be able to find everyone easily but if you need help….
WHAT IF I NEED HELP?
…look for one of our volunteers stationed around the venue in the Fictionally Yours VOLUNTEER shirt. We will be happy to help you!
TELL ME ABOUT FOOD….
We will be having light snacks for you to enjoy, as well as a cash bar and as always, free water. Stay hydrated, friends!
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
1. Any books from home to be signed and copies or a list of your preorders so you don't forget!
2. A bag for books but no book carts, please! The venue is small enough and close to the parking lot so feel free to drop your books off at your car and show your wristband to come back in.
3. Your smile! Make sure you snap a pic with our banner and tag us on Instagram!
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Whatever you want! A lot of readers come in bookish shirts and we love seeing them! Or you can dress up for a night with your girlfriends. Whatever you wear, just be comfy!
IS THE VENUE ADA ACCESSIBLE?
Yes! If you have any concerns about accessibility, please don’t hesitate to email us ahead of time.
WHAT IF I CAN’T MAKE IT?
If you can’t find someone to take your ticket, please try our Resale thread in our Facebook group to connect with others. All ticket sales are final.
General Tips for Attending a Book Signing
-
First time attending a book signing? We've got you!
- Want to purchase a specific book or cover from one of the authors? Make sure you preorder! Preordering makes author lives much much easier and it’s the only way to ensure they have the book you want. Check author websites for preorder links!
- If you want your books personalized, write clearly on a sticky note exactly as you want it to be written in your books and stick it on the page you want signed. This will help the author nail it, especially if it gets loud or if you have a fun-spelled name.
- Don’t hesitate to go up to an author you haven’t read or heard of! They’ll be happy to give you an idea of what they write and point out books you may enjoy. You never know, you may find a new favorite!
- Book signings can get overwhelming. We do our best at Fictionally Yours to minimize that but if you need a minute to yourself, make a stop at your car, take a few minutes, and come back in. We got you.
- Most authors accept cash and card (and oftentimes paypal or venmo) at their tables.
